Write an article for the BYU Political Review.  Send it to  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

A quality article contains the following:

  • a unique perspective or insight

  • a specific and persuasive subject matter

  • policy prescription(s)

  • an urgency of subject matter and case study

  • relevance to the reader

  • an effective enthymeme based on solid assumptions

  • the human factor (relate statistics in terms that are quickly relatable )

  • an effective introduction and organization (including smooth transitions and paragraph topic statements)

  • concise, active language

The BYUPR achieves two goals. The first is to provide a forum for political discussion on national and international issues. The second is to provide the opportunity to improve the writing and editing ability of its staff and those who submit articles. A thorough editing process occurs before any submission is published. An article is assigned an editor who works with the writer to meet the above mentioned criteria. Changes and suggestions are made. Some are mandatory while others are preferential. It takes hours to get an article to the level that it is ready to be published.
